Information technology ensures that processing of data is faster and accurate so that the right information can be supplied to the right person at the right time with better efficiency. Information technology helps information systems to deliver greater value to the management by technology intervention not only in the procession arena but also in the delivery of information, visualization, communication and ease of access areas.
A Management Information System MIS is an information system  used for decision-making , and for the coordination, control, analysis, and visualization of information in an organization. The study of the management information systems involves people, processes and technology in an organizational context. In a corporate setting, the ultimate goal of the use of a management information system is to increase the value and profits of the business.

Both information systems IS and information technology IT are burgeoning industries that offer job opportunities that have long-term professional growth potential. The fields are related in more ways than that, however. In fact, the terms information technology and information systems are sometimes used interchangeably, but that is a misnomer. There are similarities and differences in the two fields.
Organizations and information systems have a mutual influence on each other. The information needs of an organization affect the design of information systems and an organization must be open itself to the influences of information systems in order to more fully benefit from new technologies. The organization's environment, culture, structure, standard operating procedures, politics and management decisions are mediating factors that influence the interaction between information technology and organizations. Other factors mediating the relationship include the organizational culture, structure, politics, business processes, and environment. From a technical view, an organization is a formal, legal, social structure that processes resources, or inputs, to produce outputs. The firm is seen as infinitely malleable, with capital and labor substituting for each other quite easily. The products and services are consumed by the environment, which supplies additional capital and labor as inputs in the feedback loop.
Information Systems is a large umbrella referring to systems designed to create, store, manipulate, or disseminate information. However, Information Technology deals with Information processing, storage, and transmission. Information System is a system that consists of processes, people, and systems while Information Technology is a part of IT which consists of hardware, storage devices, processors. Information Systems vs Information Technology degree is a conventional dispute considering both of them deals with a computer-based system. Although it requires varied education and drill.
